Washington DC Event Photographer

Event Photography for the Nation's Capitol

Policy. People. Purpose.

Knowing the Room Matters

If you’re responsible for an event, then you already know how much is riding on the photos. They’re what you send to leadership, what goes in the annual report, and what lives on the website long after the event is over. I’ve spent a decade in Washington, D.C., photographing events for organizations where reputation matters, including NASA, the World Bank, and National Geographic. I understand what it means when the photographs I deliver will end up in front of boards, donors, the press, and the public.

If you want your event photographed with that same level of precision and care, let’s talk.

Level up your photography.

A Higher Standard of Coverage

I read the room. I watch speakers for their rhythm, crowds for reactions, and people making connections with one another. That is what separates a photograph that looks like it was taken at your event from one that actually feels like your event.
I bring a complete lighting kit to every shoot and use whatever tools the space calls for to create beautiful, intentional light. Whether I’m working in a purpose-built event space or a windowless hotel conference room, your photographs will look polished and vibrant. The venue doesn’t set the ceiling on quality; the photographer does.
I move constantly throughout an event, looking for better angles, expressions, and interactions— but knowing where to be is only half the job. Knowing when to step back matters just as much. Years of working in rooms where discretion and decorum matter have taught me how to get close enough to capture what’s happening without becoming part of it.
I’ve worked as an associate photographer for other photography businesses, so I know the model: a client books with a company, and an available photographer is assigned to cover the event. It’s a common way to scale a photography business, but it isn’t how I’ve chosen to build mine. When you hire me, you get me. If I’m not available for your date, I’ll tell you rather than quietly send someone else in my place.

Hi, I’m Taylor

DC is where I built my career as a photographer. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in congressional offices, museums, embassies, government buildings, hotel ballrooms, conference centers, and just about every kind of event space in between. That experience has taught me that being a good photographer in this city requires more than knowing how to make a beautiful image— it requires knowing how to read a room, adapt quickly, and understand when discretion matters.

I’ve spent that decade developing the ability to create beautiful light, the intuition to anticipate moments before they happen, and the experience to make the most of any environment.

I show up to every event like it’s the most important thing I’ll photograph all year— because for my clients, it usually is.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are your photos delivered?
Through a private, beautifully presented online gallery. You can download everything directly, create favorites lists, and easily share the gallery with your team, guests, and sponsors. If you’d like to see a sample gallery before booking, just ask— I’m happy to share one!
How soon will we receive the photos?
My standard turnaround time is 7 business days from the end of your event, but I frequently deliver much sooner— including same-day selects and expedited full galleries for many of my clients. If you have a specific deadline, I’m happy to work with it. I’d much rather underpromise and overdeliver than leave you waiting for your photographs.
Do you travel for events?
Yes! I am based in the Northeast but regularly travel thousands of miles for my clients.
How does pricing work?
I price each event based on the time, complexity, and specific requirements involved. When you reach out, share as much as you can about your event, including the date, location, duration, number of attendees, and what you’re hoping to capture. If you have a budget in mind, I encourage you to share that as well. I approach budgets honestly; knowing yours helps me find a structure that works for both of us, rather than simply determining how much to charge.
Can you work with our communications team?
Absolutely. I regularly work with communications, marketing, and PR teams in DC to make sure the photographs serve a purpose beyond simply documenting the event. If you have priority speakers, VIPs, branding requirements, a shot list, press needs, or images that need to be delivered quickly, I’m happy to build those priorities into my coverage from the start.

Many subjects. One perspective.

Different subjects call for different approaches, but the style, intentionality, and care behind them remain the same.
