Poise. Character. Expression.

Portraiture is about more than how someone looks; it’s about how they carry themselves, what makes them distinctive, and what emerges when they become comfortable in front of the camera. I approach each person individually, paying close attention to light, expression, posture, and environment to create photographs that feel both vibrant and natural. My goal isn’t to manufacture a version of someone for the camera, but to recognize what is already there and photograph it beautifully.
For the past three years, I’ve brought that approach to portrait assignments throughout Philadelphia, photographing individuals, organizations, events, and editorial subjects across the city.
Most people aren't accustomed to being photographed, and I don't expect you to arrive knowing what to do. I give direction when you need it, make adjustments as we go, and create enough space for you to settle into the session. I also pay attention to posture, expression, hands, movement, and the small details that can change a photograph, while avoiding poses that feel unnatural or overly constructed.
The best photographs happen when you're truly comfortable.
I don’t wait for perfect light to appear or spend too much time looking for it. Whether we’re working outside, in your home, at a workplace, or somewhere chosen specifically for the photographs, I use the environment and bring additional lighting when needed to create something deliberate rather than simply accepting whatever light is available.
I want the finished photographs to be flattering and polished, but still recognizable as the person who stood in front of my camera. Every finished portrait is professionally edited, but my goal isn't to turn you into someone else. I make careful adjustments to color, tone, skin, and distracting temporary imperfections while preserving the features that make you look like you.
I’ve spent more than a decade photographing people in an unusually wide range of environments—from portraits and weddings to major events for organizations like NASA, National Geographic, and the World Bank. For the past three years, Philadelphia has been a regular part of that work.
That range has taught me how to adapt quickly to different people, personalities, locations, and time constraints. Some sessions are quiet and deliberate; others require me to make someone comfortable and create a strong portrait in only a few minutes.
Whatever the circumstances, I pay close attention to the details that shape how someone appears in a photograph and give clear direction without making the process feel overly posed or complicated.
