I create the photographs you expect to have—the ones where everyone looks good and is actually looking at the camera—but I’m just as interested in what happens around them. The laughs between photographs, the personalities that come out once everyone relaxes, and the interactions that make one family look different from every other family I photograph.
Family events are often some of the few occasions when everyone you care about is in the same place. I photograph birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, reunions, and other celebrations with the same approach I bring to larger events: anticipate what is happening, move through the room without becoming a distraction, and make sure both the important moments and the unexpected ones are covered. The result is a complete gallery—not just photographs of the decorations and formalities, but of the people who made the day matter.
I’ve spent more than a decade photographing people, and one of the most useful things that experience has taught me is that most people don't need more posing—they need clearer direction and less time to overthink being photographed.
I keep sessions moving, pay close attention to expression and light, and adjust quickly when children, weather, locations, or plans don't behave exactly as expected. The goal is to make the process easy while giving you photographs that look considered rather than overly constructed.
