A good portrait shouldn't feel interchangeable with one I could have made of anybody else. I start by considering who I'm photographing, what the image needs to communicate, and where it will ultimately be used.
Sometimes that means a clean, carefully directed portrait. Other times it means working more loosely with the environment, movement, expression, or available light. The approach changes from person to person, but the goal stays the same: make something polished that still feels unmistakably like the person in front of the camera.
I’ve spent more than a decade photographing people in environments ranging from carefully controlled portrait sessions to assignments where I have only a few minutes to understand someone and make a strong photograph.
That range has taught me to adapt quickly to different personalities, locations, and circumstances without forcing everyone through the same process. Some people need more direction; others need space to stop thinking about the camera altogether.
I want the finished portrait to look considered without looking overworked—and to still feel unmistakably like the person I photographed.
What I Deliver
The finished work should feel considered without feeling overworked: photographs with presence, personality, and enough range to be useful well beyond a single profile picture.
You do not need to arrive knowing what to do in front of the camera. I give enough direction to create strong posture, expression, and shape while leaving room for the photograph to still feel like you. The goal is confidence without stiffness.
A portrait session should give you range. Depending on the assignment, that can include tighter portraits, environmental photographs, different expressions, changes in framing, and images with enough variety to work across editorial, professional, and personal uses.
I use the environment, available light, and supplemental lighting deliberately rather than treating the location as a backdrop. Whether the session is in an office, home, studio, or on location, the setting should contribute to the photograph rather than compete with it.
Finished portraits are carefully edited for color, tone, skin, temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and distracting details. I do not erase the features that make someone recognizable or create an artificial version of the person who was photographed.
Final photographs are delivered at high resolution through a private online gallery, ready for websites, publications, social media, professional profiles, press materials, and print.
I personally review, select, and finish the photographs I deliver. The work does not move through an automated editing pipeline or get handed off to someone who was not there. The final gallery reflects the same judgment that shaped the session itself.
